Content subtypes

Content subtypes help further describe content. The tables below describe each subtype, when they are available to be selected, and which Content type they belong to. (See list of Content types)

Content type - Announcement

Announcements are only to be used in special circumstances. Do not abuse them, or they get taken away!

Content type - Answer

Answer

An Answer is a response to a Question. It is not possible to create an answer without a question to answer.

Answers and Questions can be rated by members.

Content type - Contribution

Contribution

Choose Contribution if you want your content treated as a contribution.

Content type - Documentation

Documentation

Documentation is content that is informative in nature, reserved only for content that is factual, accurate, and easily proved. Documentation must include references, graphical illustrations, flowcharts, manuals, or something similar, that backs it up as a whole.

An Emergency is a special Announcement. USE ONLY FOR REAL EMERGENCIES!

  1. Site Help relates to help files for this website located in appropriate UpgradeMyDream subgroups. The Tutorials Group provides a host of tips you will want to be aware of. We also need members to assume one or more roles that are open.
  2. Group Help relates to all other help and it is up to each group to assemble the files needed. However, this does not mean a group must do all by themselves. While help is expected to be unique for each group, help files from other sources could suit a group's needs very well. Going one step further, some help files may be universal to many groups. In some cases, a group's help could be pieced together from multiple groups and simply shared by using the Groups audience field. As we evolve, the times when help cannot be found in any form should become fewer and fewer.
  3. Tutorial is optional: Always select either Site help or Group help. Tutorial is only added - and only if content also provides step by step instructions.

A Journal notates a date. It may, or may not, relate in someway to the person writing the content.

Planning is the step that comes after Outline, and Polls are an effective way to determine if plans should change. Most content type has Planning as a subtype.

A Review comes from vast experience and it is written objectively. If you do not have this experience, or if you cannot be objective, you are writing an Opinion.

Rules deal with the Company, a Group, or a Department, Rules are stronger than Policy. They are written down so they can be read, debated, and finally enforced.

A Tracking poll repeats periodically, measuring changes over time for the same group of people. If your poll only runs once, the subtype to choose is Opinion poll.
